dc.description.abstract A power operated well efficient cassava peeler cum slicer was developed at K.C.A.E.T Tavanur. The machine consists of frame assembly, peeling rotor, slicer disc, feeding chutes, feed pressing mechanisms, outlets, and power transmission system. Peeling is achieved by scrapping action of the peeling rotor. Thirty six cutting blades which scrape off the peel, have been mounted along the circumference of the rotor with a blade angle of 60O. The capacity and peeling efficiency of the machine was found to be 456.62kg per hour and 91.01% respectively at an optimum peeling rotor speed of 397rpm. Slicing is achieved by the action of rotating slicer disc holding the blade rotating in clockwise direction. The capacity and efficiency was found to be 33.6kg per hour and 90.832% respectively at an optimum slicer disc speed of 300rpm. The machine was found to be technically and economically feasible for the industry level operation. en_US
