A simple, semi-automatic pneumatic operated potato slicer which is easy to operate and maintain was fabricated. The slicer was found to have a capacity of 50.4 kg/hr with a power requirement of 75 W. The machine worked efficiently at a pressure of 3 – 4 bars. For a wider range of applications, cylinder models capable of withstanding further high pressure of compressed air are available. Cutting tool patterns could be changed based on the requirement. It was observed that uniform slices with least damages were obtained. The capacity could be varied by adjusting the time interval of movement of the piston using the time switch delay mechanism.en_US
